Curator By Words
Today most galleries and museums are curated by subjects or chronological order. Retrospective exhibitions of an artist are usually arranged in accordance with time or with visual features.
My idea in this project is to find new inter-connections between artworks. I examine 100 works of the artist, Damien Hirst.
My code analyzes texts and descriptions written about each of the 100 works, for this I use NLP algorithms, and then, in order to find the main connections between the artworks, I use the PCA algorithm.
Chart is representing most dominant 3 dimensions from PCA.
Artworks categories organized by color.
Video is demonstrating the transition from data based on visualization features to linguistic based data.
We can see at the begging the categories grouped with colors, represent the artwork visual resemblance.
The colors mixing at the end represent the new linguistic connection that found.
